World of Wonders

Here we are, finally something written in english on this blog! We must admit that it took us so long to write each article in french, that we never found the courage to do the same in english. But we promised ourselves to summarize our adventures in english to share them with our english-speaking friends. But first of all, how did we come to the idea of a trip around the world during one year?

This dream came into life about three years ago. As you might know, we really enjoy to visit all kind of countries, but we soon realized that 2 or 3 weeks were not enough to really discover a place and feel far from all our worries. This is how we figured out that a whole year travelling around would just perfectly suit us. Of course we had to save some money to realize this dream, and we decided that, as soon as I, Scarlett, would be finished with all my studies, we will just go! The final decision was taken a bit more than a year ago, at the end of 2007. To leave everything behind is not easy: no more home, no more car, no more job for Loic, nothing. We had to find some courage to do it, and we are glad we did!

It was not easy to choose which parts of the world we would discover, because in one year we could definitely not go everywhere! So, after an imaginative planification, we chosed to go to Asia and in the Pacific islands, that would be enough. During the first months, we planned to do many treks and tours, then we would visit some countries of south east Asia, as we feel it, and finally, the last months would be reserved for diving and discovering the islands of the South Pacific ocean. As long as we are there, why not enjoy almost all the islands, huh? Who knows when we’ll go back, so far from home…

Today, as I write this text, we are almost in February 2009, and we will be heading to the third part of the trip soon, for diving and enjoying the beach. To catch up all the articles we wrote in french, we decided to write in english a summary of each part of our travel mentionned above. So here are the countries you will find in each part:


1. July - November 2008: Brazil, north China, Mongolia, Kyrghyzstan, west China, Tibet and Nepal.

2. November 2008 - February 2009:  Bhutan, India, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, south China.

3. February - July 2009: Philippines and Borneo, Australia, New Caledonia, Fiji, Wallis & Futuna, French Polynesia, Easter Island, Cook Islands, Hawaii.
